I want to give a shout out to Gronan for the 1965
Vikings with Kirk Douglas. Still one of the most epic historical fantasy (maybe) movies of all time.
Going back into the 60's I screened many of the following as well, in the late 60's early 70's - Mostly in the AAFES theater Saturday double feature matinee from 1970-74, in Frankfurt Germany. 25c admission. Another 25c got me a bag of popcorn, a coke, either a tin 12 oz can, or wax paper cup, along a with a fistful of hard candy in a paper bag).

The Lost Continent - 1968
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lost_Continent_(1968_film)I noticed there are no listing for Science Fiction or Science Fantasy. I watched tons of these movies too, and in the late 60's and early 70's even single feature movies included a short or serial before the main movie. Many of the serials made by
Republic Pictures and
Columbia Pictures were actually full feature movies that you would watch in chapters that were ten to fifteen minutes long, and always seemed to end with a cliffhanger. I'm sure Gronan remembers a few of these. The U.S. Army in the 70's could only afford to pay for old cheap and cheesy movies and serials mostly. It was very rare for us to watch a brand new movie from the United States. I do remember watching
2001: A Space Oddysey in 1969 as soon as it showed up in the U.S. theater in Germany. We did have a space station in 2001, ISS, it didn't look anything as impressive as
Stanley Kubrick's awesome space station from
2001: A Space Oddysey in 1968.

While I haven't seen all of these movies, I have seen the majority of them. In the mid-late 70's and early 80's many of these could also be watched late night on Friday or Saturday night during Shock Theater from TNT, the first network television station in the U.S. Many were re-released for VHS video in the 80's as well.
