Darci, you are, indeed, determined! This is great. Knowing I am not working on this alone inspires me as well. Man, I am looking forward to getting the manuscript for my day-job book off of my desk and off to the publisher so I can get back to Tucker and his Kobolds! We have a project! Fight on!

So I've been out of the loop for a bit and just noticed this thread tonight. I love this idea. I like that it's utilizing monsters and treasures from the rulebook and that the targeted vibe is "lighthearted pulpy". That's my favorite vibe, in fact! (One of my perennial inspirations is the Indiana Jones series) I'll be choosing a title and beginning work on a mini-module this weekend. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Cheers for the great idea, tetramorph!

Rad, monk , happy to have you join the project. Let me know what kind of advice would be helpful and I will do my best to advise. Thanks! Curiosity questions.. How do we go about designing the "world"? Should/could we use the Outdoor Survival map like the 3LBB tells us to? Or maybe if you (being the leader of this idea) could find a Hex Map for a continent, and then label it like : A1, A2, A3, A4 (etc.), then we can populate the countries? Then with each mini module we can say "This module takes place in Hex A4 and Hex D10" for example. Are we using all of OD&D or just the 3LBB? I only ask because of the alternative combat system.

smubee, thanks for the interest! I think my point in calling them "mini" modules was to avoid having to worry about the "world" at all. Let each ref have his or her own world. The modules are MINI (emphasis on mini) so that they can fit modularly with respect to one another within a given mythic underworld (and thus the need to give tips for making it more or less difficult) and with regards to where in one's own campaign wilderness you would like it to go. That said, I suppose as part of the heading on "Suggests for Campaign Hooks" (or whatever I called it) you could suggest a location or at least a terrain type as per the OS board. I would rather keep the population of countries and the like open to how the individual refs want to build their own world. It is almost like my idea is: "of course you have your own campaign, here is some cool stuff you can drop into it wherever it makes most sense to you -- in fact, you can drop them in with respect to one another as per different levels of a dungeon." Does that make sense? Is that helpful?

Oh absolutely that makes total sense.

smubee, oh, and yeah: pretty much just LBB. If you keep things generic then the ref can make things specific. So, like, you say there is a necromancer and you maybe list spells. That way the ref can choose LBB HD or GH HD, etc. Does that help?

I'm making a note to read up on what happened on this subforum, and by posting this, am inviting others to do the same. Maybe something will come of it. of course, we have the fanzine project, but you never know what will get the juices going.
