One needs to differentiate between innate powers of polymorphing and polymorph spell. Dragons listed as being able to change form have an innate ability to do so unless otherwise noted. Not only do I know by being a co-author of the quoted work, but that is the way I played my 2nd PC in the reboot of Castle GH 2 (only one session, though, as I had to abandon playing for exclusively DMing and was trying to do both). That character was NEDLOG (spell it backwards) and appeared as an eastern man, i.e., a golden dragon PC that myself and Gary contrived. NEDLOG could polymorph at will, no spell needed.

Thanks for responding, Rob. That's pretty much what I was concluding, as well.

And then, there's this! * odd74.proboards.com/thread/8809/story-sleepOldkat's post 301 I'm going to expand on the extrapolation of the intent of this, and add that, as I interpret the Sleep spell, it (the spell) will affect a minimum of 1 (4+HD/Lvl) creature/s or from 2-16 1st level (up to 1+1 HD); with 2nd and 3rd level/HD types affected in variation. But the dragon's breath is not restricted to the levels of the character/victim(s) at all! Rather, from 2-16 characters of any levels--even exceeding 4th/4 HD, will fall to sleep if they fail their Save Throw. This might not be the intention of the breath ability's creator (like, that would surprise me? lol), but for my Lost Lands campaign, I shall follow the above, brief dissertation. * For those that remember the 70s, no. It's not Maude!

I wonder, some times, if people still play the game or spend the majority of their time on line discussing rules...

I wonder, some times, if people still play the game or spend the majority of their time on line discussing rules... My campaign runs once per month which is as often as we can get together. One player drives about 25 miles to where we meet, I drive about 10 miles myself to reach a central location. I may have one or two new players for the game coming up on March 19th, both will be first time OD&D players.

I am sure that if you did not have players that you'd be a master at discussing things between you, yourself and "I", cheetos not-with-standing... Building a world is a full-time endeavor, never completed by any one at any time. That's why I tend to build as I play.

I wonder, some times, if people still play the game or spend the majority of their time on line discussing rules... They are, in my observation, two different groups. The more I play the less time I spend online. I'm stuck in central South Dakota some 4 hours from Jim Lurvey so I spend a LOT of time on line.
