I have mixed emotions about this series. On the one hand I really love post-apocalyptic stories and fiction. And the nomadic horseclans concept I really like too. I like the immortal few, the telepathic bond some clansmen have with horses and "cats" as shown in the books and other things. But I don't like the direction overall that he goes with the stories, to me there were better stories to be told.

Its been ages since I read the series completely; have read one here and there over the years. But, I agree. I can't seem to recall if there was some underlying goal Milo wanted to achieve, or if he just like living day to day.

I've owned the whole set for years, with the possible exception of one of the anthologies, and I have a hard time with them. I think I've only read the first five or six. I love the concept but something about Adams' writing makes them a slow read for me. Plus, old guy struggles with small font size in paperback. I'd love to have these reprinted in hardback with a decent font size. Maybe I'd get through the whole series.

I would like for someone to take these ideas and rework them into a series with a Howard or Burroughs touch.
