I'm a little dumb on this topic, I guess. I'm gonna reread M&M (/TU&WA) on scrolls. I always kinda thought they weren't that difficult to create (perhaps I'm remembering Holmes.) So that magic-users with a little coin (after their first couple of jaunts to the dungeon) should be able to come up with more and more scrolls as they and their companions survive more and more expeditions into the dungeons. Maybe I got it all wrong.

IIRC only wizards and above can create magic items in OD&D (at least in M&M).

druids... have no magic books Is this a house rule? Or does Eldritch Wizardry specify that druids have no need for spell-books?

"Druids may use those magical items ... normally usable by clerics, excluding all clerical items of a written nature (scrolls, books, etc)." (EW p2). Which is to say druids cannot employ clerical spell scrolls and books. Whether there are or are not separate druid spell scrolls and books is left unsaid, but it seems reasonable to assume this implies druids don't employ written spells of any kind. Note that clerical magic books get an explicit mention here

In this case, though, waysoftheearth has hit the nail on the head (as usual). That's where my rule comes from, plus the historical fact that Celtic druids had no writing. And my clerics do have holy books.

Any time you have time to rest, and your spell books, you can swap out a spell for an equivalent level one. You don't need to sleep because the energy of the spell has not been used.
I play it as "maximum spell per day." The "per adventure" is a holdover from the dungeon.
Also, I think the WORST thing one can do is remove the need to choose spells in advance. It makes the Magic-user trivial to play and removes all interesting choices from the class.
