Here is some quick info about the Toldara campaign:
The campaign world is a mixture of ideas I have had over the years; some go back to my very first campaigns. My cousin has joined me in bringing ideas together and we are co-DMs with me focusing on old school stuff and him focusing on the new.
The rules I have used for Toldara has changed several times - gamer ADD! - but it should be relatively painless to use with most OSR style games. I am nearing completion on a MicroLite 20 adaptation, MicroToldara, that I will post here soon. I also have information available in B/X, Back to the Dungeon!, Swords & Wizardry, and several more systems. I will pick one of these systems to present any hard stats.
There are additions and changes to the races in my campaign. For instance, Half-Orcs are not the typical result of the spoils of war but a curse administered by the gods. There will also be feline and lizard humanoids available as PCs.
I am experimenting with trimming the classes down to the typical four of fighter, wizard, cleric, and thief so I can work in a set of advanced classes. This might sound similar to prestige classes but it would be implemented in an old school fashion. Basically, a way to specialize your characters focus.
Of course, there will be Toldara flavored monsters and magic items detailed in future posts.
I dig comparative religion information and I have details available for the various religions of Toldara. Humans are typically members of the The Fractured Faith. It's called that because it is pretty obvious that the various faiths all started from a central philosophy. As disagreements happened new splinter faiths emerged. Obviously, it is inspired by real world Christianity but it is not simply a fantasy version.
Various sources have served as inspiration for Toldara but each area or kingdom is unique. For instance, there are things inspired from my old campaigns, Land of the Lost, real world history and myth, and even more.
Just a few tidbits of info. More later...
