I am going to start a short series of threads of some of my messing around w add'l stats. First up:Perception, the added stat I had the most success with.
Perception is rolled like any other stat and functions simply. A d20s rolled and must bee lower than the stat to perceive. More difficult rolls must be made to say perceive an invisible foe.
I used this for at least 5 years and was the first one I tried to use. I actually don't remember why I stopped using it.
NEXT:Luck

Perception was a optional stat in AD&D, but I did away with it. Typically I just use a d6 to see if anybody notices anything, but if somebody says that they are actually looking I tend to add the scores for their INT and WIS together then divide it by 2 and that is their target number.

I had no idea they published this in AD&D. What was the source of it?

I think that it was in "Unearthed Arcana", but I might be wrong. I know that they had one called Comliness, cause that was important! They tried to tell us what to imagine our character looking like too.

I always think of Perception as being part of Wisdom. Wise people are more observant.

I would go w the big 6 plus Luck and Perception(as I have laid out) and maybe some versions of Sanity and Fatigue

A better name for Brawn would be Gameness, it refers to how much damage an animal could take(I believe it i an English hunting term, would have been way better than HP)
