In my first year of Japanese lessons, I got a test question wrong. Well, many; but that’s not important right now. I meant to write dragonfly (akitsu) and answered “akatanbo” which could be considered a bad spelling of the words for “red/crimson staff/stick,” tanbo often used in days long past as a euphemism for a male body part. So, essentially red — well, you know. Sensei cracked up when she read it, and with my permission shared it with the rest of the class. There were muttered references to “crimson dragonflies” for the rest of the semester.

My current user name is my Traveller character, but my real one is Ebon Hearted Soul a take on on my old My_Darkened_Soul_Bleeds_Black email addy - an ode to my old (or not so old) Metal, Gothic & Misanthropic proclivities. That said I am a nice guy with Conservative leaning Libertarian ideology.

My user name doesn't have anything special about it, sadly. When creating names I just have a feeling for what I want it to sound like and just let my mouth spout whatever it wants to. Then I check that it doesn't rhyme with any obscene word and go for it.

Onerom is Moreno (my real name) written in reverse. An old d&d tradition (Yrag, Drawmij...)

Name of an AD&D character from back in high school. The DM allowed use of the duelist Npc class so I created Simrion Marcolikos

El Borak purports to be Arabic for "The Swift" but as nearly as I can find out it is not Arabic or anything else.
I liked the name and the character so I claimed it.

"raikenclw" dates from the ancient days of aol. The "r" is for Richard, the "aiken" is my last name and the "clw" is "claw" without the "a" . . . as in the raking claw of a dragon. Or so I thought at the time. Now, it's just tradition.

Back in early August of 2009 I decided to join some forums for the first time, just after I had started up an OD&D campaign that July, but I had an employer at the time that I wanted to make sure was not in my business, so instead of using my real name I created a nom de plume, Halenar Frosthelm and the associated screen name The Perilous Dreamer. I went through a lot of names and screen names before I got the sound I wanted and the image it created in my mind of someone strong, adventurous and creative.

The Perilous Dreamer. I went through a lot of names and screen names before I got the sound I wanted and the image it created in my mind of someone strong, adventurous and creative. When I first saw your screen name, I couldn't help but think of Robin Williams in "What Dreams May Come."

I already know(?) what landbeyondbeyond s name is from. It is from the Ray Harryhousn move, 7th Voyage of Sinbad. It is part of the phrase used to summon the djinn of the lamp.

hahaha thats gas with the Mao name - I appreciate that kinda irony
Lazy Litch for me means someone who is very interested in acquiring knowledge, being introverted but has pretty low contentiousness & has procrastination problems
which describes me ( + alliteration )

Procrastination, I think a lot of us struggle with that one, especially if you have a lot of interests it is hard to focus on just one and get something done.

I was called Zeeka when I was really little so I shortened it to Zka for online. My sister claimed it meant laugh in some other language and I was always laughing.

We talked about this a wile ago but we have had a lot of new people and I found that thread fun. mao stands for "Middle Aged One, a play on the Dr Strange character The Ancient One.Actually I am a right winger. So tell us yours. I'll play. Verehaden is Ver from Vernon, e is for my middle name and you guessed the last name. I'm on the right myself, it comes with the territory, when you're young your parents take care of you, so you're a liberal and once you leave home and start taking care of yourself, working and spending your own money you get more conservative the older you get. Or you just never leave home, but that was not one of my available choices.

Of course in my case when I got out of school, I was ready to leave home. They say first born's are like that!

Willy Wort was my nickname as a child. I was never sure if it was good or bad, but I found it funny so, if the intent was to insult, it failed in that regard.
And my avatar is the flower Saint John's Wort. (Given my less than symmetrical face, I thought it was funny that I was being called a flower). Wart you say, nope, pronounced differently.
