This is exciting news. Rob is our best link to the formative years of OD&D and its descendants. I'm glad to see he's reversing his previous stance of (basically) the past should stay in the past.

This link doesn't work, PD. It just reopens this post in a new tab.

This link doesn't work, PD. It just reopens this post in a new tab. So it does not, I will fix it here in a few minutes. It does that now and then, but I do not know why.
OK, it should be fixed.

I hope all of these things sell well, maybe he might come back to all of the Kalibruhn things including the supplement.

Kalibruhn. Now that's something I'd like to see. I hope Rob means to actually release it, he's certainly stated publicly enough times he isn't interested in revisiting the past.
The dude is so damned smart I don't think he really groks just how much joy us mundanes would get out of seeing his unique perspective on the halcyon days of gaming. So, I'm guardedly optimistic but won't be crushed if it turns out to be balloon juice.

I would definitely be interested in his Diplomacy rules for the Greyhawk board game these sound fascinating. TSR did release one, but it wasn't really a game at all because the results were rigged. I have thoughts on this idea but I don't know if it would translate well since the period is ancient.

By the way, I’d like to nominate Drabraptor as the name for the next iteration if this project. You heard it here first!

Gary’s love of wordplay and impish sense of humor were at work here. He was working on the idea of publishing his Greyhawk campaign, most of which existed before TSR gained the rights to it, and used Dunfalcon to avoid setting off Hasbro’s legal juggernaut. That name was adopted by several fans looking to publish auxiliary works. To the best of my knowledge there aren’t any, or at least very few, actual publications (print or electronic) available under that name—and none of them by EGG. I feel bad for the guy. He just wanted to create, and he was hampered not only by his general state of health but the fact that big corporations with huge legal departments for watching him quite closely.

The lesson here is that if you are the one starting a company, make sure you still own your IP rights and you license them to the company for a set number of years. Renewing them periodically. They decide you need to go, your IP goes with you. Also make sure the Trademarks are you in your name, not theirs.

They decide you need to go, your IP goes with you. Also make sure the Trademarks are you in your name, not theirs. I used to be a semi-pro drummer, my preferred kit was Ludwig Drums. IMO these were the best to be had at any price. I was reading about William F. Ludwig and how he lost the ability for a while to manufacture and market Ludwig Drums. Keep in mind this was a product he refined and marketed with his name on it. So he sold WFL drums, which were as close to the Ludwig Drums as he could get away with until he eventually regained the right to use his name. Another example is the Jackson 5, which starred a very young Michael Jackson. After a time, records starting appearing with the name "The Jacksons" on it. Why? Because they'd lost their right to use their own band's name on their records. Creative folks are rarely business savvy and vice-versa. Not to say it never happens, but generally the two personality types are not found in the same person. And money, as history has repeatedly shown us? Can really bring out the worst in people, even those who formerly close and trustworthy. TSR stands as a shining example of this.
