Blackjack comms to the whole ship, "I'm going over to the Port Office to pay them their fees, Raven and Tok how about coming along with me? "
"Charlie, how about you and Emiya going outside make sure the utility connections are done right and nothing is taken from the ship or sneaked aboard by the local workers." "Oh and Cyril and Tak, I want you to find us a Chandlery on the Port property and arrange to swap out our Life Support Modules and buy food and such for the next leg of our journey. Take Doctor Vargas with you so he can restock his medical supplies." "Peng and Gil, I want you two to check out transport to the mainland and see if you can find a boarding house over there for all of us. I'm giving everyone a couple days of leave here, but I want us all together for safety sake. Oh, and if we're going to the mainland find out what we need to do to keep our comms working and connected to each other over there!" "Remember, we've only got about an hour before those strong winds are expected to blow in. Don't get caught outside, and wear your filter masks! "I'll be at the main hatch waiting for all of you...Blackjack out!" OOC: I think I gave all the PC's something to do. If whoever you are paired with doesn't post they'll just be coming along as silent partners until they check in and post. OOC: Raven takes care of her clothing and air filters she makes mental notes to pay attention to Blackjack, his comments and instructions more than ever. He has been so involved that she has to some degree never been the full Captain of the ship, but now she needs to not rely on Blackjack as a crutch. His recent comments made her realize how much she has slacked off in a comfortable situation. Raven meets up with Blackjack and Tok to go to the Port office.

I didn't forget that Ping approached Gil about "side jobs", but if Gil replied, I missed that. Okay, out of the ship you go, all wearing filter masks. The sky is currently clear, but you know the locals are expecting a very strong wind to hit in about an hour. There are a line of buildings to the right of the ship, including the Port Authority building, several warehouses, and a string of small one and two story stores down a couple of streets. There is a jeep with a couple of locals parked next to the ship. "Hey!" one of them calls out, "We're here to connect your ship to local utilities. Who's in charge?" Raven goes over to the jeep and says, "I'm Captain Raven, I and the owner are going to the Port Authority to make payment right now as we understand the wind will be picking up soon." Glancing to her left, she says, "Charley and Emiya here will assist you with anything you need from us to make all necessary tie downs and connections."Leaving them she rejoins Blackjack and Tok on their way to the Port Authority.

Cyril is trying to look businesslike. " I haven't checked the chandlers, yet, but I've listed the items we need to replace consumables and breakage. Takheal, is there anything species specific that I've overlooked?" "No," Takheal replies. "My partner and I have learned to do without some things, so that we may more easily travel." Doctor Vargas overhears this and says, "Takheal, it never hurts to check. There might be species specific things available here. You won't know unless you look...ask...right?"

Peng and Gilly trudge over to the Port Office and look at the schedule of boats to the mainland. There is one in a couple of hours...after the daily "big blow" passes by. The fee is only 2 credits each for the trip, pretty cheap, and it looks like it's only about an hour by boat from the Star Port to the port on the mainland.
----------------------
Raven, Blackjack and Tol enter the doors at the Port office a few seconds behine Gil and Peng. As they enter they see the pair looking at a big arrivals/departures board off to one side.
Blackjack points off to the other side of the large room, "There's the Port Captain's Office over there. Remember, we're just checking in, paying our respects, asking about news from up the main, and asking who to talk to about any cargo heading that direction. Raven, you take the lead. I'm going to fade into the background, this time. Got it?"
--------------------------------------
Back at the ship, Charlie and Emyia chat with the local workmen who are making the utility connections for the ship. The connections are going smoothly and are wrapped up quickly. The workmen are adding their warnings about being inside...somewhere solid...when the "big wind" hits. While Charlie and Emyia are talking to them Emyia catches movement from the corner of her eye. Something moved over near the open cargo hatch...she's sure of it...but she doesn't see anything there now.
The workers say goodbye and head back to the buildings from which they came.
------------------------------
Doc, Tak and Oscar walk down the single street of buildings here on the Star Port and see a sign that says Chandler's Goods and Chandlery .
"Probably, the only one here." Vargas says and reaches for the door's handle, "Shall we?"

Peng pulls out a plastic* two-credit coin and begins flipping it idly as he and Gil walk along the street toward the dock.
"Wanna get a beer while we wait?" Peng asks Gil.
[Assuming that at some point - perhaps while sipping said beer, perhaps elsewhere - Peng and Gil are together in relative privacy . . .]
"Ya know, you never did answer me, back in the ship. So I'll ask again; any interest in looking for a side job?"

"Btw, there is a Scout Base over on the other side of this island. I suppose Joe Tolar might have more data on the up-main systems than I do. I know the Romanian's aren't sending Scout ships up the main far, Joe won't say exactly how far, though. I'll have it sent over after the Big Blow comes through in about an hour. Won't have time to do it before that. That's one thing about Shira Lee, you don't want to be caught out during the Big Blow."
"There's a story about a ship that landed here back when folks were first exploring Shira Lee." Chandler says as he walks around rounding up the supplies on your list, "The crew didn't know about the Big Wind and they all got caught in it, killed all of them and half buried their ship."
He stops and looks at you, "Oh, I don't suppose you're another bunch come to look for that ship are you? In the years I've been here there have been 3 groups that went looking, one came back disappointed with half their team dead and two never came back at all."Once Chandler has assembled the supplies you have on your list you have about 20 minutes to walk the 500 meters back to Clear Sails. As you near the ship you see the group that went to the Port Captain Office approaching. Blackjack waves an inquires if you were able to get all the supplies for the ship.

Over in the Port Terminal, Gil and Peng get the information about taking a boat to the mainland. Peng finds that it is cheaper to just charter a boat to take everyone over than to buy individual tickets and does that. Captain Jakes, a local charter boat Captain, is eager to make a deal with Peng and Gilroy and the pair of them actually talk him into giving them a 50 credit finder's fee for choosing his boat. He will be ready to depart in 3 hours and you can rent his boat for the 3 hour trip to the mainland for 150 credits. Your earlier check of prices shows this about half the going rate.
Doing all of this eats up the hour you had before the Big Wind blows through, so Gilroy suggest the two of you hunker down in the Terminal's Bar for the hour or so the weather outside is too bad to venture out.
The are is crowded, seems like a lot of locals spend the Big Wind time here, and the pair of you are only able to find a spot at the bar. Over a couple of beers Peng and Gil discuss the "small package trade." Gil mentions that he has a delivery to an address on the mainland for which he is to receive 500 credits. He doesn't think it's dangerous, but is willing to cut Peng in for a quarter of the money if he comes along as backup.
While you're drinking at the bar an old timer dressed in the local garb sits down beside you and after looking you up and down says, "Ya not from round here are ya? Ya come for the Morganites, the local fascists?"
He looks at you hard then leans in with a sly grin and says softly, "Na, I bet you're here to search for La Varita, the lost treasure ship.
Gilroy snorts and says, "I suppose you just happen to have a map to sell, too, huh?"
"Na! Na!" he leans back then says softly with a wink, "Not in a public bar anyway?"

While the others converse, Takheal boards the ship and prepares to receive the supplies he ordered at Chandler's.
OOG: I'm running Tokheletoi until Matt returns - he did email me, so he's okay, just really busy.
Tokheletoi follows Raven back to the ship, and sees Takheal heading to the gangway. She catches up with him as he prepares to board. "Are the supplies enroute?"
Takheal lowers his ears respectfully. "They are scheduled to arrive after the Big Wind, whatever that is."
"I will make room for them, and you can attend me."
"Of course."
The pair enters the ship and makes it ready to receive the supplies when they arrive.
