As an idea for an Aerth campaign, perhaps think of high-level gaming, using the heroes from DEITIES & DEMIGODS, and, DRAGON magazine.
While this may seem strange, the original GREYHAWK campaign was run 1 on 1, with a high-level PC.
In the current time of not being able to find enough players, the concept of 1-4 high-level PCs might be viable.
Just count the high-level PC as 2 or more PCs.
For example, for an adventure of 6-8 characters, of levels 5-7, Hiawatha (total level 33) might count as 5 (8+8+7+5+5) characters.
He would basically be able to take on the adventure on his own, with 1 or 2 henchmen, or, lesser heroes.
Any thoughts on this idea?
Here is a beginning list of potential PCs:
Hiawatha (druid 8, paladin 15, ranger 10) <change druid to barbarian priest, change paladin to ranger>
Qagwaaz (ranger 12, bard 5)
Stoneribs (ranger 10)
Yanaulua (druid 13, cleric 20, ranger 10, magic-user 10, illusionist 10) <change cleric to barbarian cleric>
etc. etc. etc.
A system of total level equivalent should be laid down, and, the above system of addition (ie. 8+8+7+5+5) might not be the correct one.
Another way to calculate things is to take the highest level, and, add the total number of classes. I think this is an official method, mentioned in D1.
For example, Hiawatha would be the equivalent of an 18th level character, therefore ineligible for GDQ1-7, going on that theory.
However, intuitively, I think I think I like the first method, outlined above.
Thoughts?

An example, I prefer to do my own pregens straight from the rules/houserules.
