You can trade your 2 highest rolled stats for a 16 and a 15, no unplayable chars , Thoghts and what do you do?

Whatever you as the designer and judge of your world is comfy with is all that matters.
Personally, I think 3xD6 in order is grossly under appreciated. I ran a little test the other day and rolled out 12 characters ranging in levels from an elf (levels 4/6) to a hobbit thief (level 9), all intended to do a G run*. Here is the highlight:
1. S18, I7, W14, C11, D12, CH16, human fighter L8 2. S14, I9, W7, C15, D8, CH12, dwarf F/T L6/6 3. S12, I7, W10, C4, D13, CH10, hobbit thief L9 4. S16, I14, W16, C11, D12, CH11, elf F/MU/T L4/6/6 5. S6, I15, W8, C10, D13, CH12, human magic-user L7 6. S13, I8, W10, C13, D11, CH18, human paladin L8 7. S12, I13, W11, C13, D10, CH9, human magic-user L8 8. S8, I4, W14, C11, D10, CH14, human cleric L7 9. S7, I14, W15, C12, D4, CH12, half-elf F/MU/C L6/6/4 0. S13, I9, W13, C14, D5, CH9, human cleric L7 1. S16, I14, W5, C10, D14, CH12, elf F/MU L4/6 2. S7, I12, W13, C16, D14, CH11, human ranger L8
By just letting players roll until something appears that they are satisfied with, the 3 D6 system will work. *Note that I included Greyhawk supplement materials as well as SR
