Have you played with a female DM? I have and I love it, have any of you guys done that? Please select an answer from the first pair and an answer from the second pair in the poll.

I have played (cons only)with several DM's who were women. I liked 100% of the games they ran. In fact I was in a game that continued over 3 sessions, one a year at a localcon. My guess is that the few that dm are superior to the avarage DM(just dont ask how they have faired in MY game)

Fully 50% of my GMs have been women, as far as I could tell. Scariest was my wife, with her Call of Cthulhu campaign and her Star Trek (FASA) campaign, which sometimes crossed into her CoC campaign.

My wife was one hell of a DM back in the day when she had more time for such nonsense. Today she prefers to play, but she is still my partner in crime and the #1 person that I like to bounce ideas off of. She has more experience than anybody that I personally know; she started playing back in the days prior to AD&D in a homebrewed campaign. Her DM style was always old-school (especially back when the rest of our early group got into the hobby), she never used modules, it wasn't about hack-and-slash, and much more challenging than anything put out by TSR at that time (early 90's). She was mean too, but in highly creative ways, to bad that they are all too filthy to put on this board, but what do you want? We were young. A few of the local guys in the scene would refuse to play under her because she kicked their butts. Like I said, her games were hard and that intimidated some guys who prefered to live in the delusion that men were better, and were used to playing "You Win" scenerios else feeling like you were in control, but in her games, you really weren't. You had to ask questions. Attacking everything that moves was ill-advised and you had to pick your battles. She also didn't follow the rules, and that irritated people. Not only did she follow her own rules, but she'd quickly punish you if you complained about it LOL. We still razz each other over the funny stuff that she would do to us. Good times!

Yes, this year, right after the new year, one of the 20 somethings in my 5e gaming group rand a two episode adventure, Against the Giants. Last time before that was in the 80's... Lot of women play in my games though, and typically make up 20-35% of our gaming group.

You've got me beat, we're only up to 38 years so far. September 27th, 1980 for us. December 31st, just got in under the wire didn't you. There must be a story behind that.

The story behind the story was twofold. We decided to get married between semesters at college, on her family's farm, during Christmas break. We chose 31 December so I'd never forget our anniversary and because we needed the icy "road" up the hill so my best man would fishtail into a ditch and make him, his girlfriend, and me late.

My wife of 14 years is a DM, one of the things that we had in common when we started dating. She's the better of the two of us and not just because she multi-tasks a lot better than I do. She is not even remotely a pushover and can be pretty tough all the way around as a DM and as a player.

I've played in one brief campaign run by a female referee. After running a year-long 3.5e campaign for my daughter, she asked to run one for me. I think she was about 10 at the time. She was hilarious at it. I hope she referees for me again.
Otherwise, I haven't had the privilege of running in a woman's game.

Back in the day when I was part of a small circle of couples (except for me--my wife hates the whole thing! ), I wanted to run an assassin and one of the wives that lived nearest to my location agreed to DM me. I went from 1st to 7th level in about 3 mini-adventures; about a month. I'm going to catch a lot of flak on this but, I put non-willing. Just on a general principle. Would i make an exception for the right person? Depends on the person, of course.

Yep. Gronan's ex-GF Deb. She was very sharp and I had a good time with an MU with an illusion wand and many city/social adventures, a different slant than the regular Hack-n-Slash which I always prefer. I also played in Kyrinn Eis's World of Urutsk at NTXRPG con and that was lots of fun, but she's always been as sharp as a tack.

Don't know if she plays any more, but she was a hell of a referee, wasn't she!
And if you ever visit for a long time again (or I visit you!) I'll spend extra time preparing city adventures!

She doesn't. She was. It's sad to see what she turned into, the last year of Phil's life. Kyrinn is wonderful, too, and I was very happy to have her up here to run a game for the 'micro-convention' we had a few years ago.

It occurs to me that I missed an excellent opportunity for a less than excellent pun by neglecting to quip that I never play with female GMs, preferring to use dice. Guess I'll have to wait for another website to use that one.
