I enjoyed it. I've been reading a Light Novel series that takes this trope as its core focus (Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a Dungeon?). There is only one Dungeon in the world & there is an Adventurer city built upon it. It is a fun & humorous read. Since I am a fan of Manga & Anime (a long with more traditional fantasy/sci-fi) I dig these kind of stories. I can see taking the premise & building a campaign around it. Monte cook did a similar thing with Ptoltus, but I think I can do it on my own & not shell out $$$ for a gigantic 3.5 Tome. I've never run a mega-dungeon but might include a few as I revise my home brew setting.

Here is a link to my OERAD post at my 'Musings About Original Edition Adventures' blog. That is a great post all the way through and describing OD&D as a Toolbox is right on point! (and I said so on your blog)

Thank you, I enjoyed yours as well. I was expecting there to be 20 or 30 participating blogs and members from here accounted for almost half of the blogs that participated.

I noticed that we were the majority of bloggers, as there were very few I hadn't read on the 5th that I didn't notice that posted here. It was sad not many people participated, though I am not sure how participation was in last years "Swords & Wizardry" Appreciation Day was in comparison to this years OERAD focused one. I'll be keeping up on the list & see if there were any late additions I missed.

July 27th every year is Gary Gygax Day October 1st every year is Dave Arneson Game Day and the 7 Days ending on October 1st is Blackmoor Week (9/25-10/1) Also if you guys like Dave Hargrave aka The Dream Weaver and Arduin you could do Dave Hargrave Day on May 25th and start the first Annual One this Year What do you guys think? Also now that I think about it OD&D the first print was printed in late January 1974 (Hey robkuntz do you know anything more about the print date? Do you know when it went on sale to the public?) January 2019 is 45 years since OD&D was printed. We could just pick a day and celebrate OD&D next January or we could commit to say 5 blog posts each (one each of the "weeks" in January) and celebrate the whole month. I am game to do something for Gary Gygax Day, Dave Arneson Game day & Blackmoor Week, this year & every year here after. I'd love to do a 45yo anniversity celebration for OD&D - that'd be cool. Great idea Admin Pete . What do you think True Black Raven & Crimhthan The Great ? I need to study more on Hargrave & Arduin, but I am also game for honoring him & Arduin on May 25th

I don't have a blog (maybe someday) but I would be in favor of all of these.
Also we need to look at every account signature and see if there are blogs already represented on this forum that we can ask to be part of these ventures.

Not to a specific day, no. Just the latter part of Jan. for its publication. We were too busy assembling the boxes in Gary's basement.

Why don't we use the last Friday in January 2019 as the date for the OD&D celebration, that is the 25th and just go with that date each year to celebrate its publication.
I am going to start working on a post for the 25th for Dave Hargrave.

Echoing Jacob, I am grateful for the deep thinking that these blog entries represent. Rob Kuntz may yet see a significant customer base if he outlives me, since I've given up on seeing rolegaming realize its potential power in the marketplace as well as in the imagination.

This is a great idea guys to celebrate these days throughout the year. My suggestion though is that we make January OD&D month and celebrate the whole open gaming concept and unbounded imagination that robkuntz reminds us of so well. I like the idea from above of Let's do that, since I don't have a blog, I mean why don't all of you do that.

Well she's a bit busy with college and I'm amazed that she even bothers to check in with us old fogeys. Mighty Darci thank you for the encouragement! Now some of the other people...

? Surely Darci wouldn't consider a quote from our boy Wellington to infer an insult?
Besides, it wasn't me who typed it. It was one of the Jones boys.
