BTW, did we ever get a marching order? You count out about 67 silver each. Where to next? My men-at-arms Torn and Tern will each light a torch and I know that Adara also got extra torches for Desiree as I did, and Koss got extra torches for Magni. I suggest that Tom and Torn take turns with Desiree and Magni carrying torches. Each time new torches need to be lit, they can switch off. Marching order I suggest for the three wide config Xeric, John the Tame and Fat Burt in the first rank Koss, Magni and Torn with Magni and Torn taking turns with the torch carrying duties Adara, Kaira(me) and Megathew (Megathew what is your man named?) Boris, Desiree, Tern with Desiree and Tern taking turns with the torch carrying duties Odessa and Djon Figgs What does everyone think of this for a first iteration? If we need two wide, let me know, we will probably need to light a third torch if we do that.

Ah, I knew it was somewhere... I'm copying it over to the Google doc. I think we should leave mao's PC out of things. Xeric and Megathew with their battle axes should probably be in a rank with only two You might want to specify a single file marching order also.

Do we know how big this room is yet? If not, we need to find that out. Are there any other doors? and how many? Everyone needs to keep their guard up.

Do we know how big this room is yet? If not, we need to find that out. Are there any other doors? and how many? Everyone needs to keep their guard up. You are at the end of a short 10' wide passage. There are doors to either side, and one at the end. The door to the left (east) has been listened at, with nothing heard.

Let's go ahead and listen at the other two nearby doors.

At the south door you hear guttural speach, calling Adara over, she thinks it's orcish.
Nothing it heard at the west door.

(hi, sorry for missing the game! yes, i can carry the torch. Can anyone tell me the short version of what is going on? can be via PM) We turned a zombie, collected about 67 sp each, and stand in a small chamber with doors to the north, west, and south. No noise heard from the first two, but we think we hear orcs behind the south door.

(Quietly) "Why don't we broach the south door and as we do that spike the other two doors the moment the noise starts." I think we’re on the same page that this potential Orc situation is one to deal with before venturing further into this place. Let’s have a couple of the henchmen spike those other doors. Anyone have a plan they want to try for the south door? Or should we try to bust in and gain surprise? (Xeric’s not one for pussyfooting around, so he’s inclined to busting in, come hell or high water.)

As long as we are good with our current marching order, then I'm on board spiking the non-south doors and attempting to gain surprise on what's behind the south door.

Unless someone has a better idea, why don't we get to it.

Ok, assuming you use a single person trying to open the door in hopes of getting surprise (while the hirelings spike the other doors). That fails (6), so I will assume three folks just bust the door open (surprise having been lost).
The door opens into the east end of a 20'x30' room (oriented east/west). There are 4 orcs inside. The orcs gain initiative (5 vs 4) and charge and attack. Two can attack the person in the doorway (I'm assuming Xeric).
Orc 1 strikes Xeric (13 miss) Orc 2 strikes Xeric (8 miss)
Your actions?

Xeric pushes into the room and swings his battle axe at Orc 1.

Sorry for the long stall...
Ok, Xeric and Fat Burt are able to push into the room, that would allow a third orc to get on them next round, but will also make it possible for others to push in behind you.
Xeric attacks Orc 1 (12 miss) Fat Burt attacks Orc 2 (3 miss)
The next round the orcs gain initiative (5 vs 1 after tie breaker)
Orc 1 attacks Xeric (3 miss) Orc 2 attacks Fat Burt (19 hit for 4 damage) Orc 3 attacks Fat Burt (10 miss)
Do you continue to press attack, or retreat? Is someone else pushing in this round?
p.s. Chatted with Mighty Darci and it sounds like she's swamped in college, so we should assume Adara and Desiree stay outside the dungeon. We also don't have John the Tame. We should adjust marching order...

OOC: Hi guys, I am back and sorry that I could not do this sooner. I will try to check in at least twice a week, three times if I can.
Adara pushes forward into the room to take on an orc, shouting, "Megathew, come with me and let's finish this."

Xeric presses the attack, hoping someone will be along soon to flank the orcs. OOC: Welcome back, Mighty D. Hope school is going well, even if busy.
ffilz, Apologies for the delay. I've started a second job, so ability to check in right now is decreased a bit.

Adara and Megathew also push into the room.
Xeric attacks orc 1 (7 miss) Fat Burt attacks orc 2 (12 miss) Adara attacks orc 3 (18 hit for 2 damage) Megathew attacks orc 3 (14 hit for 3 damage)
The next round, the orcs again gain initiative (6 vs 3)
Orc 1 attacks Xeric (10 miss) Orc 2 attacks Fat Burt (5 miss) Orc 3 attacks Adara (9 miss) Orc 4 charges into the fray and attacks Megathew (11 miss)
Xeric attacks orc 1 (2 miss) Fat Burt attacks orc 2 (8 miss) Adara attacks orc 3 (13 miss) Megathew attacks orc 3 (12 miss)
Any other action this round?
(edit: sorry, messed up order of actions...)
