I am not familiar with that fella but will keep an eye out - he is a doctor, after all! Pediatrician. Nearby, forgot the name of town.

Has anyone checked out Monte Cook's Numenera? It fits into the idea of P-A sci-fantasy on our world (I think)set a billion years in the future after fall of eight great civilizations (I am assuming world spanning ones). From what little I know about it it seems like fun, but I have zero interest in learning nor running the Cypher system it uses. If you have the books or pdfs it might make an interesting setting to convert to your preferred rules.

Being a huge fan of RIFTS but not interested in running it as it is real crunchy and the setting has become bloated, I am considering creating a setting that gives a nod to RIFTS but only barely. The whole dimensional rifts bit would have to be minimalized if not tossed as would the Human Supremacist warmongering "Empire" (Kev & crew gave to RIFTS & After the Bomb 2e P-A settings). Being a fan of the first two seasons of the Defiance tv series gave me some ideas to tweak things from a dimensional focus to an alien invasion turned war & and something triggers a breaking of the seals that kept magic and monsters from Earth.
But where as in RIFTS Earth civilization has been coming back in a variety of forms, in this setting it is shortly after the war & ensuing supernatural cataclysm. PCs would be humans, benign aliens or "monsters" (Elves & such) trying to survive in the aftermath and be the movers and shakers rebuilding the civilizations. Just an idea I've been kicking around.
[Update: If I do this I'll likely incorporate it into my Multiverse of Akar mega-campaign universe.]

The current Campaign I'm working on, The Ruins of Arduin, is post apocalyptic. Some terrible realms shaking cataclysm happened in the distant past - how long ago, no one is certain - but some memory of the previous incarnation has survived as many of the settlement names and various locations remain called what they were, despite being in different locations on the map.

Wow! With Arduin, you have a choice of so many apocalypses! I liked the one (from around 1979?) in which the airplane ran out of coffee and first the passengers, then everyone in the world, tore everything down and burned themselves.

I like the 2000 to 5000 years after the apocalypse time frame myself.

Forgot all about that, what with so much happening. Is BraveWolf still here?

Still here! I haven't written up much yet is why I've made no noise about starting a thread on this topic.

BraveWolf, considering all the healthscares, losses of income, and extra busyness we've been having amongst us forum members - is there a chance that the Apocalypse has already begun?

I voted 100, but I'm flexible.
It depends some on the nature of the apocalypse. If nuclear, I want the horror to pass before I game it. If it's just civilizational collapse, I could go a lot shorter. Can be fun to have older people who remember the old days and younger people who know only the new way.
