Yes. Quite a good time at that particular GENCON where the photo was snapped. I was able to meet and talk with my old friend Dave Arneson while there; and it was, unfortunately, the last time we were able to do so, other than by phone.

I am happy to learn that you and Dave Arneson were friends. Too many at some places on the internet which shall remain nameless, want to divide D&D into camps, the Gygax camp and the Arneson camp. They want to claim only one wrote D&D and that the other is a free loader. Mostly, as far as I can tell, that is people who were not there and perhaps a very few who were almost there at the beginning. Why they have that axe to grind, who knows. Perhaps sometime you can share some Dave Arneson stories with us. I suspect that most of us would be blown away to see how the game was played back in the early days versus how most think it was played. I, for one, hope that you can impart some of that to us.

My upcoming book, though a pretty close-to-the vest secret, will be dedicated to Dave and the MMSA. MANY people (and I can't stress that enough) will be taking another look at Dave in a different way then, and not just because of a dedication. Concerning the "camp" that is attempting to rewrite history, that did not start with them but only continues by way of them, and that is all I will say about that until the book is published.
