I thought I'd start a new thread to start role play.
Former Scouts Sir Adam Suzuki and Rockie Kana have recently (a week or so ago) mustered out of the Scout service at the Scout base at Kauran. Rockie was being assigned a surplus Scout for detached duty when Adam Suzuki showed up and convinced the quartermaster to leave the aged pulse laser that had not yet been stripped out of the turret (please embelish this with a bit of role play using this to justify the co-ownership - I'm assuming Adam's Social-B is a factor here).
Having secured the ship, assured that the annual maintenance is up to date, and inventorying the ships stores, Adam and Rockie have settled in a local tavern, The Drunken Goose to find additional crew members.

Well, stop the presses. This is actually pretty darn good. Might even be exportable.Looking over at his new partner Rockie as he swipes foam out of his mustache, Suzuki offers: "You should really try this. It's very smooth, with just a hint of almonds and . . . yes . . . nutmeg."Glancing around the barroom, Suzuki wonders aloud: "Think our ad's going to get us any nibbles this evening? Hey! We did get the conversion from Imperial to local time right, didn't we?" |

Harry "Tab" Tebeth comes into the tavern and looks around. He checks his hand computer before looking around again. He spots the two Scouts and comes over.
"Hi, I'm Ta - er, Harry. You Suzuki and Kana? Looking for crew?"
He sits as they answer.

Suzuki resumes his seat and adds, "Me and Kana recently secured the loan of a functional Sulieman from our former masters, the Scouts. We've named her The One That Got Away."His grin clearly tells Tab that this name was his idea. "She's still got her service turret and there's even a laser still in it! But the beancounters didn't leave much else. So we're starting pretty much from scratch."Glancing at Rockie then back at Tab, Suzuki concludes a bit tentatively, "I was thinking that if we can get together a few people with the right skills, we could all go in on equal shares?" |

" We did and yes I am confident that it will bring us some recruits," as she smiles in amusement. He is certainly someone who kissed the mythical Blarney Stone the poets tell of. That pulse laser is quite worn, but better to have it than not and if he hadn't thrown his "noble airs" and "charming voice" around the would have been without a weapon and maybe even without the turret itself. She needed a partner and he had already proven his worth, so she offered him a partnership. While there are still some details to work out, this looks to be an interesting partnership. First chance we get we need to replace the pulse laser and add the missing items to the triple turret. |

As Harry replies, Suzuki waves Oliver toward a seat and then resumes his own. "This is Oliver Brown the former Marine Captain I was telling you about Adam, he is a good man in a tight spot." Suzuki smiles and agrees, "It's always good to have a Marine at your back.""Adam, I believe you have an engineer who will be joining us tonight also?" Suzuki nods and replies, "Yes. Danny should be along presently. Although I anticipate that she might have a bit of difficulty actually making it to the table from the door."At the puzzled looks this statement garners, Suzuki adds with a grin, "When you meet her, you'll understand." |

As Rockie speaks to Oliver, Tab uses his comm to message Emma Tanaka. He then turns to Oliver and says, "Harry Tebeth, atcher service. But call me Tab, everyone else does. Some ancient Terran drink, I hear. Anyway, my friend Emma is coming to interview as well. She'll be over soon." Looking over Tab's shoulder toward the entrance to the bar, Suzuki suddenly grins and says, "Unless Emma is a really short redhead, I think Danny just arrived." As he speaks, Suzuki rises and pulls out a chair from the table. Those who look toward the door see a crowd of males who seem to be concentrating on a spot in the crowd's lower center, from which the occasional glimpse of flowing red locks is visible between broad backs. This crowd moves slowly in the general direction of the party's table, dwindling as it comes. After a few moments, the center of attention is revealed as a very short and vivacious redheaded woman . . . Danny In Sunlight. . . one who is - to judge by her gestures and expression - steadily turning down companionship/drink offers as she walks. Barely breaking 4 feet and weighing in at ~70 pounds, the woman nonetheless walks with evident self-confidence. Separating herself from the last of her erstwhile admirers, the woman steps up to the chair Suzuki holds and plops down with a sigh. Looking around the table, she gives a general, "Hi! I'm Danny. Suzuki tells me that you're in need of an engineer. Well, I just happen to be good one and I'm looking for a better berth than the clapped-out Far Ttrader I came in on." |

Rockie is happy, they both see quite competent and it is always good not to be the only women on a ship. |

Tab orders a sandwich and a non-alcoholic drink as Emma sits and talks to the group.
"Hi! It's nice to meet you. I worked for a pair of free traders for a few terms, until I moved up to a local interface line^. I know a fair bit about administration, and developed a bit of know-how for contacting the local, shall we say, less than upstanding types. I'm also a decent steward."
*OOC: I'd say cybernetics but don't know how much ffilz plans to use them.

Oliver Brown finishes placing an order for three large sandwich's and two large non-alcoholic drinks, he flashes and open smile and then says, "One term in the Marine's for me, learned some fighting skills, can drive an ATV and pretty decent with a Vacc Suit. Decided that I was not cut out to be a career marine even though in the one term I was promoted to captain. I'm not afraid of hard work, but I want a better reward for it, and the ability to enjoy the reward too!"
Rockie orders her food while he talks, a sandwich and non-alcoholic drink and two servings of fruit that looks promising.

Suzuki orders a plate of Extra Hot hotwings, a bowl of Five Alarm chili and another bottle of the excellent house ale, then chips in his own bit of story: "I don't have much experience in hand-to-hand, but I'm a fair shot with various firearms. I also know my way around machinery and electronics, plus I've got enough hours in a vacc suit to stay out of trouble. I'm qualified on airrafts and ATVs, perhaps a bit more than just qualified, truth to tell. Beyond that, I've got a smattering of experience doing a wide variety of things, but none of them at what you might call a professional level."

Her expression darkens a bit as she adds: "But in the way of personal violence, while I was on my regional fleet's Olympic fencing team, I've never used my foil in earnest. I qualified on all the usual service personal weapons, but that's as far as that went. Also, while I'm fairly quick, I'm about as strong as a wet tissue. So in a face-to-face fight, you'll probably find me a liability."

Then in his usual tones, Suzuki adds, "I hope that we don't get into such a spot that non-combatants have to debark and fight. But on the general subject of crew positions, I hereby bequeath my erstwhile title of Senior Gunner to anyone who can match Danny. I'd give it to Danny herself, but I think her experience as Engineer takes precedence."

A cute and quite busty young blonde waitress - with a nametag that reads Moana - appears, burdened with a large tray holding their several orders. Suzuki leaps to his feet and deftly opens out a folding tray stand. Blushing, the woman stammers, "S-s-sir, you didn't need to do that. I could have gotten it."
"Nonsense. I insist. Here, let me get the drinks for you." And despite her protests, Suzuki proceeds to hand around everyone's drinks, while the waitress hands out the plates.

OOC:Rockie watches this performance with interest, is the man just flirting or did I pick a really good partner. I can not imagine any noble I've ever met doing that. Suzuki notices both Rockie's interest and bemused expression. As he sets down her drink, Suzuki says in a voice just loud enough to be heard over the ambient hubbub of conversation and cutlery: "Got the knighthood from Archduke Norris 'for services to the realm.' Rather have had a pay raise, frankly." |

Rockie laughs at that replying in the same voice, "That would be the choice I'd make too. But I am sure it will be to your (our) advantage from time to time. It can open a door or two and get a tad better treatment now and then. Perhaps we can turn that into a pay raise for both of us."
