OK, I have unveiled the subforums for my new PBP game and I will be adding information to it over the next month leading up to kicking the campaign off on October 1st, 2017.
If you have previously posted that you are interested, excellent! Now is the time for you to post what character class you would like to start as and a character name if you have it. Currently I am offering Fighting-Men, Magic-Users, and Clerics. I will be posting some information over the next couple of weeks about each of these. I do use Alignment (but not to beat you over the head with it) Lawful, Neutral, and Chaotic. Fighting-Men and Magic-Users may be of any alignment and Clerics must choose Lawful or Neutral at the start of play . Please note that Anti-Cleric's (regardless of alignment) are EVIL and you are advised to kill them on sight, but that is your decision. Sub-classes will include Paladins (option at 4th level, having started as Lawful from the beginning of play, but must be consistently Good as well as a hatred of EVIL) who can start as Fighting-Men or Clerics; Rangers (option at 4th level, having always demonstrated a concern for the weak and hatred for the forces of Chaos) who can start as Fighting-Men; and Grey-Men who start as Grey-Men at 1st level and are considered a subclass of Fighting-Men, they include some abilities often associated with Thieves.
I will be posting write-ups on each of these over the next few weeks.

How are you doing roll ups? I like to roll up stats (or have them rolled) and then pick class from there.

Frank I am going to roll up stats and give each of you several to choose from, I was more asking the class to find out if people have a preferred class (some do and some don't) and to get an idea of what type of party we will have. I am doing 3d6 in order and I plan to give you between 5 and 10 to choose from. Just be thinking about it. I will try to post the class write-ups and PC races as soon as I can along with your stats to choose from down in the Character Creation sub-forum.

Was thiiiis close to picking ranger, but now I'm intrigued by the premise of Grey-Men. I wonder if they have the abilities of the Arduin-like punster.

The punster inflicted physical and (on a really good roll) spirit damage according to the subjective judgment of the referee. That's almost all I remember, except for a critical success I "rolled" when he was offered a pardon (adventure hook) as the noose was slipped over his head.
"Thank you, your Majesty. No noose is good noose."

Puns are welcome; however, it sounds more like personal flair IMC but I will consider how it might be applied.

Our GM was running original Arduin, which is to say no rules at all. We attempted what we thought our characters could and would do, we rolled dice when he told us to, and he undoubtedly cheated behind his homemade screen with no charts or nothin'. I cannot remember if there was a Punster class in Arduin Grimore or if he faked it. 1979-1980.

Hi, I would like to play a fighter. What rules are you using? I will be using OD&D the 3LBBs and house rules and I will attempt to let you all know what those house rules and other pertinent details are. The rest will be learn as we go.

OK so far those expressing interest are hengest , magremore , mormonyoyoman , ffilz , Warrior Twin One , Warrior Twin Two and as a couple have told me they will not post frequently I am up for a couple or three more players. Please let me know how often each of you can post and if the other players or I can proceed without you weighing in on everything. If at some point any or all of you want to designate standards actions in certain situations please post and let me know that. I have also started on character creation threads for each of you, I will unlock once I get the basic posted.

I can usually post multiple times a day on weekdays. Weekends probably not (except often Sunday evening). I don't need to weigh in on every decision, if a consensus is already developing, I'll go along.

Similar to Ffilz's schedule, once all flood waters have receded and dentists return to town. I am agreeable with the posted attributes listed on the Other Thread, being particularly interested in the attribute of "??" Will that be 3d6 or 4d6-(low die) for "??"

I try to look in at least once a day. Don’t always make it, but I try.
If I go quiet, I’m fine with encounters proceeding without my input.
I like the idea of possibly supplying standard instructions, but what those would be will vary depending on character.

Are you in the really badly flooded areas of Whoston or are you above the high water mark? Are you folks safe where you are at? ?? That is to be revealed.

We're in one of the few no-evac zones, on the corner of Westwood Dr and Pecan Park Dr, across the street from the church building in Rosenberg, TX. Up until yesterday, roads leading out of our neighborhood were flooded while the waters were only a couple of feet around us. Today - 98.6% dry all the way into downtown Houston. Now, Friday the waters from the reservoirs up north will be flushing through and cresting the levees - but today was terrific.

If I am playing here is how I play, I will make decisions. If someone else speaks up and has a good idea, I will get behind it and push. If no one else is speaking up, I will. As a player, I don't believe in standing around debating while wandering monsters are closing in on us. In a face to face game as a player I try to keep the game moving as fast as I can, the faster the better. As a player, I love using scouts and I love setting an ambush. I once enslaved about 50 kobolds and used them as scouts and as spear carriers and in return they got to eat the best they ever had, of course this involved killing all of their leaders first (we were first level at the time).

If you can let us know how things go on Friday for you folks! Shall do. It may be by the END of the day, or even Saturday (to play it safe while knocking my head for luck). We are putting together a workforce for this weekend. We may have been spared, but there are a LOT of people who need brush cleared out, muck removed from their homes (along with drywall and carpets and newly-visiting varmints), and supplies replenished. Plenty to do if anyone feels bored and needs exercise. Even I yam doing as much as I can from my chair. Those extension grabbers/reachers are plenty useful!

Sounds pretty much like combat in real life. One responds in one of two ways to a crisis: As Trained or Panic. Thinking occurs almost after actions are taken, because there's no time.

When I am a player that is how I like for the game to go. You act! When I reffed and played in college that is how the group played. We spent very little time discussing things, the caller gave the general plan and then as needed the player gave the specifics. Games bitd went very fast. Now much slower than that, but people can adapt with experience.
