This is my general thread to discuss the granddaddy of fantastical and heroic medieval adventuring, the Arthurian Legend. Stories of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table are a key influential part of the adventure fiction genre, and indeed, English literature as a whole. It is also the main inspiration for an OD&D campaign I am working on titled Chainmail Hearts set in a fantasy world inspired by Sub-Roman Britain, but with all the High Medieval and Late Medieval anachronisms typical of period Arthurian works.
Feel free to discuss King Arthur and his stories in all of their forms. This isn't just limited to the tried and true classics of Thomas Malory and Geoffrey of Monmouth, but later literary adaptations such as The Once and Future King or The Mists of Avalon. Movies and television shows such as Merlin, Excalibur, the 2004 King Arthur film, and even Disney's The Sword in the Stone are welcome for discussion as well. Comics such as Prince Valiant and the futuristic anime Code Geass are also permitted, along with countless other Arthurian-derived media not yet mentioned.
You can even discuss Arthurian-themed video games and tabletop games like Pendragon too!

Well, I love The Matter of Britian, but my personal opinion is that Pendragon is a better fit. Partially at least because I prefer the actual medieval stories.

I've always wanted to try Pendragon, actually.
That being said, the Chainmail Hearts campaign isn't a direct adaptation of Arthurian lore, but rather the archetypes of setting and characters found in Arthurian works filtered through the lenses of both shonen anime and the gonzo fantasy of early OD&D.
Another inspiration for Chainmail Hearts was The Elder Scrolls video game franchise, though it isn't as big of an influence as the stories of King Arthur (in particular Malory's wildly anachronistic Le Morte D'Arthur) combined with the style of OD&D.
