Here we can create, build and discuss hollow campaign worlds, in the world's grand tradition of men like Sir Edmond Halley, Cotton Mather, Athanasius Kircher, Baron Ludvig Holberg, John Cleves Symmes, Robert Patlock, Edgar Allan Poe, Jules Verne, L Frank Baum and Edgar Rice Burroughs. THE HOLLOW WORLD OF EDMOND HALLEY The Hollow EarthReview: Hollow Earth - Culture - International Herald TribuneAs Standish recounts, several pioneering modern scientists and thinkers, including the English astronomer Edmond Halley, the German Jesuit Athanasius Kircher and the Boston cleric Cotton Mather, had also advanced hollow-earth theories. (Since God would probably not have wanted to waste any space, Mather argued, an inhabitable hollow earth made perfect sense.) I had not thought about the hollow worlds but there are a lot of them, something to think about. That makes a world a lot bigger in a hurry!

I wish I had more to post here -- maybe if I can sit down and muse for a while this weekend -- but right now I'm thinking the surface of the hollow world could act as a magic filter. Magic emanates from the moon and stars (or maybe from the sun-core of the world, depending on what you want). Works D&D-style (whatever your flavor and level is) on the PCs' home-side and is "overpowered" magic on the other side. Or maybe only arcane is filtered like this. Or only divine.
