This old grey duck is definitely too old for a cage fight. I'd just do an Indiana Jones: pull out a gun and shoot the other guy.

Ahhhh good ol RQ. A game I've played but once 20+ years ago yet love to its overwhelming imaginary historic core. If only I could find a GM as enamored with this treasure as I. I don't want to run it I want to play it!

Not if those ducks of yours aren't. They are old grey ducks, they hang around the stables with the old grey mares. Ummmm . . . I was just looking at this thread again, because I did not at first realize that sentient anthropomorphic ducks are an actual race in Glorantha. [ . . . which makes me wonder now if Marvel's Howard The Duck came from an alternate Gloranthan timeline . . . ] So - in light of that new knowledge - hanging "around with the old grey mares" acquires a whole new potential meaning . . .

I don't want to run it I want to play it! As implied above, I have no actual experience with RuneQuest, in any of it's forms. However, from what I've been reading tonight, it seems like a detailed and (very important for me) intricately realistic setting. So I would be willing to learn it, if there was actual interest in playing it.

I absolutely think game historians should be called to account if they distort the history, the same as historians for any portion of history should be called to account for distorting said history. I have read enough history over the years to know that there are so many different versions of "history" of the real world, that it is often hard to know who is telling the truth and I am sick of it. It should not be allowed to contaminate any history, including game history. I find Jon Peterson's disdain for first hand oral testimony to be rather infuriating.

Agreed that it should be noted when people distort history. Interpreting sources is one thing (necessary), ignoring or distorting what they say is another.
