My wife is in dialysis this morning and I am leaving in a few minutes to go down and sit with her when she returns to the room and she is moving to a rehab center for physical therapy and occupational therapy later today as a step to getting home again. That gave me a bit of time this morning to catch up on the forum and to make a few posts.
Thank you all for your kindness during this difficult time.

God bless you. You might find comfort that every first Sunday of the month, a lot of old men with injured knees get on their knees and pray for you and Mrs PD by name (Not "Mr & Mrs PD") and that we'd like to do more. Do you have a smartphone or tablet which you can use while waiting for her or sitting with her while she sleeps? If not, maybe we could get a collection together to provide you with one. You need to fill the time with something other than worry.
Wish you were here, where we could do much for you. When we were in Columbus in 2005, you were in Texas? Now we're in Texas and you're in Ohio and there's something wrong about that.

You need to fill the time with something other than worry. Count me in! She has a Kindle Fire, a gift from her sister. I sit and read while she is sleeping. She is now in the rehab center for the PT and OT and is doing well with the walking and other things. I am sick, no fever, but feel like one. I am using a mask and hand sanitizer when I see her and other people are visiting so after taking her some more clothing I came home and went to bed as I don't want to make her sick. I am on my way back to bed now.

Hope things are doing better. My brother's health is quite fragile and I live in his house so as to help out him and my aging Mom, so I'm quite familiar with the whole "hand sanitizer, gloves and gauze masks" routine. Best of luck to you both and you're in my prayers.

OK, I meant to be on here for about five minutes and it has been way longer than that. First all I have not had a fever for about 16 hours and yes I did go to the doctor and get medicine for my bronchitis. I was working on bills this morning while my wife was doing her occupational and physical therapy this morning. She is doing a lot better and an is anxious to be able to come home. I am off to the store to get a few things to take down to her.
I am very encouraged to see how active the forum is and that there are a lot of conversations that I wish I had time to be part of.

My wife is home from the physical and occupational therapy center. The insurance made her leave sooner than they ought to have, so coming up and down stairs is really tough. But she is in good spirits and I dropped her off at dialysis this morning. Will be going back in a few hours to pick her up.

Makes a big difference.

Sadly, insurance fubars have been the norm for at least the past 40 years - and good arguments have been given that the origins go back at least another 30 years before that. As I get set to "lay this mortal by," I think I can see the tunnel at the end of the light.

A few months back, my Mom let her car roll over her leg. Her surgeon said that on a younger person, he would have performed surgery, but since Mom is 85, he braced it, gave her the appropriate meds and let it heal on it's own. She spent a few weeks in a care facility, then came home. My younger sister is a doctor of physical therapy and didn't get upset, so Mom's insurance must have behaved okay. Anyway, she healed up fine; her personal doctor says that Mom is the healthiest patient of her age that he's ever had. He expects her to make it past 95 with no problem.

Yesterday the 23rd was our wedding anniversary (22nd) but it was also her dialysis day, so she spent most of the day sleeping, but today we are going out to dinner for our anniversary and today she was able to go up the stairs unassisted for the first time. She is sleeping and resting now and in a couple of hours I will wake her to get ready. She has really been looking forward to this as have I.

Yesterday went great except that she overdid it a bit on walking and had one of those nights were you are too tired to sleep. Resting this afternoon and still enjoyed dinner and some time out of the house for something other than dialysis. Made it out to church today and a few of the guys helped her in and back out with the ramp. She was much encouraged even though she was very tired. Overall a good weekend.

There's that old saying of "It's a GOOD tired." The older we get, the more we understand that saying.
Peace be unto you.

Hello everyone, I wanted to jump on this morning and let all of you know what is going on. My wife Janet, went back into the hospital on Monday morning because her legs were too weak for her to stand. That meant I was not able to help her move around the house at all. They did X-rays, Cat-scans and a whole slew of tests, but not much info has come out of that. She wasn't get much sleep and was having a lot of itching. That seems to be mainly from the diabetes and the dialysis/kidney issues and her phosphorus level got higher than it should be. She has made some improvement since Monday, but the palliative team came in on Wednesday and talked to us about options and are recommending hospice. She is in dialysis this morning and I have to leave to go back in about 20 minutes and I don't know when I will be back on line. I am responding to pms and requests as quickly as I can and it is encouraging to see posting going on even if I don't have time to read all of it.
The good news is that she is not having any pain right now. (Although at times the itching is almost that bad, but they are really working to relieve the itching and help her get more sleep.
PS a member requested a place for Greyhawk/Gygax stuff so I added a forum. it takes barely a minute to do, so glad to do it.

TPD, sending prayers the way of you and your wife for her recovery and well being.
Thank you for taking time to attend to my request, which I would not have submitted if I had known you had so much on your plate.
