Thank you all! We met with the oncologist yesterday and they would normally start with surgery first, but with all of my wife's other health issues the doctor said that would not be the best way to go. Once they start the surgery, they really need to be thorough and that could be a long surgery and that would likely be very hard to recover from. So they will start with chemo by drip a treatment every 21 days to start soon (being scheduled) and then they will monitor how well she tolerates the chemo. Starting with one drug, The goal is to shrink the tumor down so that they can then do surgery and be confident that it will not be a really long procedure. If this works well, they may add a second drug, that also tends to have more severe side effects, so this will be played by ear. So right now it looks as though the next couple of months will be seeing how this works. If she tolerates it well then in about two months they will do a new cat scan.
I will be going ahead with my surgery for some sinus issues in mid July (17th) and will not be allowed to lift for two weeks. So I am going ahead and having it since my wife will not have surgery right away.

Prayers and positive thoughts coming your Wife's way. I'm a firm believer that everyday of life means one day closer to a cure for that evil curse "cancer!" My Dad was diagnosed with Non-hodgekins many years ago and was cured due a bone marrow transplant. Prostate and pancreatic got him 14 years later but at east we had him for that additional 14years. If there is anything within my power that I can do to help you and your Wife please let me know.

My wife had her first chemo treatment today and because she is on dialysis they have to go to a lighter dosage, since chemo is rough on your kidneys and it needs to clear at a certain rate. It is supposed to still be effective, so we are hoping. My surgery on Monday the 17th is still on.

"Thumbs up" doesn't seem the proper response, but hang in there! You are both loved and needed - and any other monitor would throw me off this forum for Overextended Punsmanship.

Thank you all for the encouragement and support. She seems to be handling the Chemo treatment OK so far. The treatment people though told us two things one is some things don't show up until a half dozen treatments have been received. They can us a sheet of things and if any one of those symptoms occur they need to know so they can determine if it is from the treatment or not.
I have my surgery on Monday at 10 AM.

How was your surgery yesterday? I think we would all like to know how that went. My guess is that he is on painkillers and sleeping most of the time and he maybe is not supposed to be active for a few days. Hope it all went well PD and that you are healing well.

That was a pretty good guess, the surgery seems to have went well and I am supposed to keep my head elevated and I am on painkillers and not supposed to drive. I was hoping to be back to work tomorrow but I will be off the whole week and should go back next Monday. Right now that is a lot of oozing bleeding and drainage and I am congested like a bad head cold, but not supposed to blow my nose at all for a full week. Can't use my inhalers for my allergies or the cpap machine for the sleep apnea. See the doctor Friday afternoon. Just on for a few minutes to update you all and to see if there was anything that needed my attention.

My wife seems to be tolerating the chemo pretty well so far, but I understand that you don't really know until she has had several.

I would express empathy and prayers, but you should not be reading this until you get a LOT more sleep. Without your CPAP, you're missing a buncha REM sleep - and I've been through this. If you are reading this any time before 21 July, stop and go to sleep. (Tzhett casts SLEEP on Mr PD.)

Hi folks, I am back. My wife is doing pretty good and her energy levels are back up and now going into her next chemo on August the 3rd she knows what to expect. My surgery went well and was off work for a week but will be going back to work tomorrow on Monday. The tubes came out on Friday and I was able to use my cpap machine on Friday night for the first time since the surgery. I slept all the way thorough and my wife said it was the most silent night of our whole marriage, she woke up once and it was so quite she thought I must have gotten up and then looked over and saw me asleep beside her. She said all of the remaining sleep apnea noise is now gone. I am already feeling greater energy levels and no longer have a sleep deprived headache and I can breathe through my nose better than I can ever remember.
Thanks from both of us for all of the good wishes and prayers!
