First of all, thanks to Admin Pete for creating this section for my humble Holmes clone! Now I have to fill it with something, though ... I did mention this before, but I might as well start by introducing my "visual notebook" for the Known World of BLUEHOLME™. Now, this will never see a gazetteer, but all adventures I will (eventually) publish are set within this setting. I don't want to push an official game world on the imagination of individual gamers, so don't take any of this as canon. Anyway, here is the "map" I use to develop my idea of the game world BLUEHOLME™ is set in. Post below if you recognise anything and you win a Stan Lee Noprize!

The only thing that Desert of Irem, brings to mind is the mythical Arabic city in Southern Arabia, now thought to be the city of Ubar that archaeologists are digging through. There have been books written about it.

Now, anyone care to take a stab at any of the place names? I'll take a few shots: 1. BLUEHOLME - eponymous city, ala Greyhawk, Free City of. 2. Woods of the Necromancer - ala Mirkwood 3. Stone Mountain and Kroger - you aren't from the Atlanta, GA metro area by any chance, are you? 4. Greystone - Castle Greyskull? (less sure about this one) 5. Blackmarsh - Blackmoor? (also unsure) 6. Crystalmist River - Crystalmist Mountains, Greyhawk How'd I do?

Haha, you're all thinking too much in-game (and I'm from Germany, now based in Hong Kong)! Think 1970s-80s TV, fiction, J. Eric Holmes ...

Oh, you can eliminate some because they come directly from the Avamere campaign map - I bought the rights to three Holmes dungeons from the Forbidden Mazes of the Jennerak blog (the first being the Necropolis of Nuromen). I should really get on with publishing the other two.

Socercer's Isle would be Gilligan's Island perhaps. Nope. That's from a Holmes story. The Adventure of the Sorcerer's Isle, in which Colonel Moran uses the Necromnicon to restore Professor Moriarty to a shambling mockery of life and only Watson's experiences in Afghanistan reverses the summoning of Great Cthulhu on the recently-surfaced island-nation of R'lyeh. This was adapted to the radio show of the 1930s, starred Rathbone and Bruce, and was sponsored by Sir Walter R'lyeh Cigarettes.
