Okay, I'm looking at Miscatoon. Low population, plenty of scope for exploration. And the atmosphere isn't actively trying to kill us! Sounds like our best plan, at the moment. And a Class B starport is nothing to sneer at. Miscatoon is a good choice for quite a few reasons. Great first choice and likely a place to make a number of visits to from time to time on a recurring basis.

You have no clue who retired there. You have lost touch. But you remember Peter Häkkänen from years ago, a very meticulous, fussy planner with no sense of humor. He used to say "There are old scouts, and bold scouts, but no old, bold scouts"

I have had quite a few close calls, but so far (knock wood) I am proving him wrong.

Good to know! I was hoping that I knew Jenny Julia the security director, Oh Well! I have had quite a few close calls, but so far (knock wood) I am proving him wrong. Any particular reason to know Jenny? Always good to know and be on good terms with the person in charge of security. I don't know who I shared scout ships with over all those years. I should know a number of different scouts, those that are still living, really well. Likely there are some of the 593 people at Wayaway that I served with on the same scout ship or teamed up with another ship(s) for mission. At my age I should know a lot of people or at least their reputations.

Remember that your Scout service is not their scout service necessarily. Each planet or polity probably has its own scout service, and they would not mix much Oh, and I deliberately chose that you did not know the security director

The security director, I figured as much.

Well, you have a triple-launcher. You buy 6 and you are out of ammo in 2 rounds. How about 18? Abigail is willing to chip in 1/3 of the costs

18 missiles, or 30 if we have the cash.
I'm good to go, just finalizing my personal gear.

What cash for other operating expenses does that leave us? p.s. since I'm a moderator, I can edit any post in this sub-board, so I suggest we keep our finances in the reference thread and then either Makofan or I can edit them as needed. p.p.s. I added the price of the TL 8 Heatsuit...

Abigail is willing to chip in 1/3 of the costs 18 Missiles at 5000 CR each comes to 90,000 CR that is 60,000 CR from me and 30,000 CR from Abigail. That leaves me with 35 300 CR after all purchases. I am not sure how much each of the others have. 18 missiles, or 30 if we have the cash. I'm good to go, just finalizing my personal gear. 18 sounds good. I added the price of the TL 8 Heatsuit... The price of the TL 8 Heatsuit is included in my above number of remaining cash, so I have the 35 300 CR left. 4000? Done! I'll get you the rest of my equipment list later tonight. (Mostly weapons -- no big shock there for a Marine!) As I understand it coffee took care of the sensor equipment for the Scout Ship.

BTW, it might be useful to have descriptions of your characters, as people you meet are going to judge you. My idea of what Abigail Westcoat looks like could be completely different than brumbar's

BTW, it might be useful to have descriptions of your characters, as people you meet are going to judge you. My idea of what Abigail Westcoat looks like could be completely different than brumbar 's Where do you want us to keep our character details up to date? As a moderator, I can edit the reference thread posts, but that won't work for all up us... Lady Marie is a slight, but fit and graceful woman (but overly so in either case). There is definitely a roughness to her, maybe almost a redneck (hmm, maybe even a Sarah Palin look: (just took a look at Lady Marie's UPP: 48852A). With Social A and Carousing-1, she can definitely fit in in social situations, though her lack of education and slower wits may quickly show up. She is a very practical woman. While she is comfortable in the outdoors, she really has just hunted tunnel rats and played a lot of 3-D video games so her actual weapon skills aren't that great, relying on natural talent (Rifle advantageous DM +1). Adele on the other hand is strong, clumsy, and somewhat frail (A35999), intelligent, well educated, and well respected socially. As a non-noble, her people skills are more oriented to the common folk (Streetwise-1), but she knows how to present herself in formal situations (Steward-1). She is definitely well liked by the family.

Marci Boudreaux 377794 At 50 she is not that strong anymore and she suffers from arthritis and the pain is part of what reduces her strength as much as age. She is average in most other respects with a bit more education than would be expected being at the low end of the social scale. Her intellect is average, but her experience is broad and she knows at least a bit about most things. She is loyal, tough, courageous, upbeat and fiercely determined to carry out any task she is assigned. I picture her like this,
